There is a banyan tree in China, 6 KM southwest of Yangshuo County that you might consider to be rather interesting on top of its beauty. I'm sure you, as a sawyer, have seen some spectacular timber, but this must be the mac daddy of all banyan trees. It's an important part of the GuiLin Lin Li River scenic spots that appear from Fupo Peak to Xingping Yangshuo. What is unique about this banyan tree? This beautiful old tree was planted around the year 600, which makes it around 1417 years old. At that age, it is the world's oldest banyan tree.
The Banyon Scenic Spot is noted for its pretty and peculiar aged banyon tree planted a ways back in the Shui Dynasty. That's about 1400 years ago.
In the year 600, the locals were called Zhuang People, and we know that the ancient Zhuangs worshipped nature. They regarded animals, plants and mountains as gods. So, our 1,417 year old banyan tree would have been worshipped as a god back then among the Zhuangs.

The tallest is believed to be 20 meters tall and it's at Jardín Botánico de la Universidad de Lisboa, Lissabon, Portugal. The oldest banyan tree is, well you can guess that now.
